WAM’s new Sydney studio is situated in the vibrant and historic area of Tallawoladah in The Rocks. This space has been designed to foster collaboration, creativity, and a sense of community among its users through a highly flexible and multifunctional design, and celebrates the beautiful historic buildings in the area.
WAM Principal Tamara White says:
“The move has brought new creative energy to our studio.
By minimising the built space, celebrating the building’s heritage, and prioritising the multifunctional heart of the space with the best view out to the Sydney Harbour Bridge, we’ve created a high-performing, dynamic, creative space. A space where everything is possible.”

Keeping in mind the highly flexible nature of the space and the need for each area to host a multifunctional purpose, ELS’s partner Jadecross, working closely with the design team at WAM, created a track-based solution. ELS’s Flex 70 track luminaires were used, which ensured key design features of the space, such as the ripple metal wall panels, could all be highlighted appropriately.
The 3 circuit tack solution also allows for the ability to move luminaires in the future, should the multifunctional design require the purpose of the space to change, thus requiring a slightly different lighting approach.
