Located on the doorstep to the picturesque South Gippsland Region in Victoria Korumburra Secondary College underwent a $12.8 million upgrade and modernisation through the VSBA schools building program to support the rapidly growing local population.
Providing students with modernised leaning spaces that reflect the requirements of current day learning practices and inter-student interactions is paramount to developing creative thinking, promoting STEM literacy, and inspiring learning for life – critical skills for future success. It was with this in mind that upgrades to the Korumburra Secondary College included refurbishing the schools administration buildings while also constructing a brand new learning hub, community hub and increasing classroom capacity.
Connection with the scenic Korumburra landscape was a clear design consideration. Likewise, large windows featured throughout the new build from each of the classrooms and learning areas which assist with additional natural daylight and a calming outlook.
Lighting & Electrical Distributors, working with Thomas Consulting Group chose the UD45 continuous luminaire. These luminairse ran throughout both the refurbished spaces and new build areas. The UD45 provided the perfect option to seamlessly transition through administration areas, learning spaces and open “networking” zones to ensure a constant aesthetic across the entire site. Most importantly, the dual optic louvre design of the UD45 provided low glare illumination to minimize discomfort glare. Consequently, creating the most visually comfortable learning environment for both students and teachers.
