Ausgrid’s new Newcastle workplace is a groundbreaking facility located in a stunningly designed laminated timber building, perfectly aligned with the company’s vision for growth in the region and a strong commitment to renewable energy.

Currently being assessed for 6 star green star accreditation the fitout is a key example of quality modern design and workmanship.

The new workplace aligns with Ausgrid’s strategic growth in the region and towards renewable energy.

Spanning five floors, this innovative workspace is designed to accommodate up to 300 employees while fostering collaboration and face-to-face interactions. With bespoke meeting rooms, flexible training areas, a spacious 300 sqm town hall, and breakout kitchens on every level, this environment is crafted to inspire creativity and teamwork.

Across 5 floors, the new workplace supports an assigned population up to 300 employees including field and corporate functions.

Attention to acoustic performance was paramount, ensuring a balance of privacy and comfort throughout the workplace. A layered strategy was employed, integrating floor coverings, soft furnishings, and curtains, along with specialized acoustic materials on walls and ceilings with integrated acoustic lighting in key areas.

After collaboration between Aston Consulting’s specialist light team and Studio P3, Jadecross came to ELS early on to design a custom Fuse Tapered acoustic pendant luminaire which ensured optimal direct and indirect illumination, enhancing both visual and acoustic comfort in meeting rooms. These custom Fuse Pendants and Fuji-integrated acoustic luminaires provide essential acoustic enhancements in numerous zones across the workplace.

Additionally, a complete suite of Flex Luminaires was utilized throughout the project, featuring recessed, pendant, and track-mounted options. This provided unparalleled flexibility with optics, allowing for tailored distribution and output suited to each working area.
